The world generated 62 million tonnes of e-waste in 2022 - and only 22.3% was formally recycled. Sorting is where fixing it starts.
Recycling is famous, but it is actually the last resort. The Rs above it prevent waste from existing at all.
Say no to what you do not need - freebies, extra packaging, single-use plastics. Waste avoided here costs zero effort later.
Use less: buy only what you will finish, choose durable over disposable, print only when needed.
Refill bottles, carry bags, repair devices, pass on clothes and books. Every reuse skips making a new one.
Give old things a new job: jars become planters, old phones become CCTV cameras or music players.
The last step: sorted, clean materials go back into manufacturing. Sorting at home is what makes this possible.
Phones and batteries contain gold and copper - but also lead and mercury. Never in the dustbin, always to an authorised e-waste centre.
